About me

Logan Trigg (BSc, PGDipSci)

I have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. I love to see my students gain confidence and understanding, whatever the subject.

I am a graduate of the University of Otago and attended Hamilton Boys’ High School. At these institutions I obtained NZQA scholarships for statistics and biology, the Science Horizons scholarship, and a Bachelor of Science and Postgraduate Diploma of Science in biochemistry.

I have been tutoring students since I was at high school and to support my university studies. At Hamilton Boys’ High School I was a part of multiple mentorship programs, including the L.I.O.N. group and mentoring refugee students with English as a second language. I have experience tutoring students with a variety of learning needs including anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.

How I tutor

Curriculum-based and student-directed focus.

Weekly sessions compliment the student’s classroom learning. The student and I review and discuss what the student has been learning at school and identify concepts that the student finds challenging. We can then focus on building understanding with those concepts that most need support. In this way, the student can feel confident in their learning from week to week.

Students can achieve a more focused learning experience by proactively identifying challenging concepts and bring examples from classwork or homework to set the focus of tutorials.

I believe that we learn best when we enjoy what we’re doing, and that we enjoy doing things we understand and feel confident with. I strive to connect with my students’ interests and share my own passion for the subjects I teach.
